Assertiveness Training
GROWING STRONG: Programs for Women
Learn positive ways to stand up for personal rights and express your needs and feelings without violating the rights of others. We will examine our current behaviors and feelings in this area. Then the focus will be on learning communication which is neither hostile nor submissive. There will be opportunities to practice new behaviors in situations like those at home, at work, at social gatherings. Saturday and Sunday, May 6 and 7, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Consciousness Raising:
An Introduction of the Ideas of the Women's Movement
Drawing on our experiences as women, we will examine specific themes, such as marriage, love, old age, money, sexuality. Each week will include a time for personal sharing and some structured experiences to help us learn about basic ideas of feminism. Tuesday evenings beginning March 21. 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.
Disunity Among Women
In this workshop we will identify misunderstandings and behaviors which separate and, thus, hurt women. Structured experiences and discussion are designed to provide a better understanding of the experience of growing up working class and middle class in this society. We will develop strategies to increase unity among women of differing classes. Each participant will be expected to be highly in: volved sharing experiences, feelings, thinking. Saturday, March 25, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., 3327 Yorkshire road, Cleveland Heights.

Fees: Fees are based on a sliding scale depending on your income. A nonrefundable minimum deposit of $5 is required one week in advance to secure a place in a group. Your fees will be discussed when your registration is confirmed.

Training for RCC Advocates
April 16 Orientation and Self-Defense Zonta Room
At this session we will discuss the importance of volunteering, programs, at the Center, what rape is, and types of rape and rapists. We will also spend time discussing various kinds of selfdefense.
April 23 -Police Procedures
May 14
Counseling and Community Resources Falsgraf Room
We will discuss techniques used by a supportive, non-judgmental counselor. Counseling children and families, and the psychological reactions of victimized persons, will be explored. This session will also cover crisis intervention techniques.
Community Room
May 21
How to work with the police; investigative techniques, police procedures and the roles and responsibilities of the involved personnel will be discussed.
April 30 Medical and Hospital Procedures Falsgraf
Room
This session is concerned with adequate medical care for a victimized person and the collection of evidence from a medical point of view. The roles and rights of the patient, advocate, and the medical personnel are discussed.
May 7 The Law and Legal Procedures Zonta Room
An attorney will be present to discuss and interpre the laws, many aspects of the court process and the presentation of evidence. A courtroom dramatization may be included.
Hotline Procedures and Counseling Zonta Room
We will discuss the responsibilities and importance of hotline work. Included will be methods of communicating with a caller, handling nuisance callers, taking case histories, and learning to use resources. Some role playing in small groups will also be done.
Training sessions will meet on Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Please be prompt. A $2.00 fee for training materials is requested. These materials will be distributed the first week and they must be read before the appropriate training session. If you have any questions about this schedule, please contact Carie Zander or the Hotline. A one-year commitment of time per week will be expected from volunteers. A $2.00 fee for each session from non-volunteers is requested. There may be a charge for parking in the garage.
